From shoreline find to one-of-one piece, every work begins with what the sea returns.
Authentic Irish sea glass carries the colour, texture, and history of the coast. Each fragment is selected for its own character, then made into jewellery or artwork rather than forced into a repeated design.
A material with a past
Sea glass begins as discarded glass that finds its way into the ocean. Over time, saltwater, waves, and abrasion soften sharp edges into smooth, frosted pieces. Some fragments can be more than a century old. Their colours—from familiar browns and greens to rarer blues and reds—offer clues to the objects they once were.
Collected on the Wicklow coast
The sea glass used in Violine’s work is gathered along the County Wicklow coastline. Back in the Greystones studio, the finds are sorted by colour, form, and character, ready to suggest what they might become.
Shaped by hand
Each piece is composed and finished one at a time. The material sets the direction: its weathered shape, surface, and colour guide the final jewellery or framed artwork, so no two results are identical.
Upcycled jewellery
Sea glass becomes jewellery that carries both natural beauty and a lighter material footprint. Repurposing these ocean-worn finds keeps them in use while preserving the singular marks made by time and tide.
Colour tells its own story
A sea glass colour can point back to the object it came from and to the era in which it was made. That history remains visible in the finished piece—never disguised, always allowed to lead.
